Courage without theater
The honest answer is sometimes quiet: I do not know. We need permission. Somebody could be hurt. Epictetus locates freedom in the judgment and action available now, not in pretending to control the outcome.

The thought
The verse joins courage to presence rather than performance. A modern thinker need not manufacture confidence. Courage is staying truthful, useful, and within bounds while uncertainty remains in the room.
A task for today
Name one material risk plainly. Then offer the smallest safe next step instead of hiding the risk, dramatizing it, or abandoning the person.
