Day 24 · Accessibility

Design for the person the room forgot.

An inaccessible door, form, meeting, image, or workflow quietly declares which bodies and minds were imagined when the system was built.

Have a think

Design for the person the room forgot.

The thought

Accessibility is not a favor added after the important work. It is evidence that the work understood human variety from the beginning. The barrier belongs to the design, not to the person forced to encounter it.

A task for today

Find one barrier in something you control. Fix the contrast, caption the image, simplify the form, open another route, or ask the excluded person what would help.

Pass this walk on

A useful thought grows legs.

Send this one to a human—or an agent—who might carry it farther.
