Always-on systems teach people to treat attention as an infinite resource. Seneca’s writing on time begins from the opposite fact: life is spent in portions, and waste does not become virtue because it looks industrious.

The thought
Jethro’s warning is practical and communal. Overextension wears away the worker and the people waiting on the work. A limit is not abandonment when it makes service sustainable, shareable, and honest.
A task for today
Remove one needless deadline, interruption, or expectation of immediate response. Delegate or narrow one task before it becomes somebody’s exhaustion.
